Mingi Hyun

Founder & Principal

Mingi Hyun works at the intersection of naval analysis, defense industry research, and commercial strategy.

His defense sector experience spans specialist consultancies, security think tanks, and academic institutions, with a focus on naval force structure, procurement programs, and defense industrial developments across multiple countries.

Alongside REKOVA, Mingi serves as a Research Fellow in East Asian Naval Affairs at the Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies (YCAPS). He previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy (KIMS) and taught as a foreign instructor at the Republic of Korea Naval Academy.

His corporate career includes senior roles at Samsung’s global headquarters in South Korea, where his work encompassed cross-border commercial programs such as alliance management, business development, and public affairs across the Americas, Europe, and East Asia.

Mingi holds an MA in History of Warfare and a BA (Hons) in War Studies from King’s College London. He is a US citizen based in northern New Jersey and spends his weekends coaching youth lacrosse.
